MEGIR: The Markel Enterprise Growth Investment Readiness Programme

About This Program

MEGIR takes early and growth-stage Ugandan MSMEs through a structured, hands-on journey that fixes what actually holds them back: no bookkeeping, no tested business model, no KPIs, and no documentation an investor or bank would take seriously. Participants don't leave with certificates, they leave with a functioning financial system, a validated business model, a KPI dashboard, an investor pitch deck, and a 12-month growth plan, all built during the programme, not handed over as templates.

Why It Works

Uganda's MSMEs make up over 90% of private sector enterprises, yet most stay small because they're invisible to formal capital, not because the ideas are weak. MEGIR closes that gap with structured coaching (a minimum of 8 individual sessions per participant), mentorship from practitioners who've built and funded businesses, and benchmarking visits to real enterprises, banks, and investment platforms.

What Success Looks Like

•     60%+ programme completion

•     30%+ of graduates assessed investment-ready at Demo Day

•     40%+ report measurable revenue growth within 6 months

•     10–15% access formal funding within 12 months of graduating

•     1 new job created per completing enterprise within 12 months, on average

MEGIR — Built to Deliver. Designed to Last.
